how about a little self promotion?

CreateHere has done it again. The same folks who provided me with the grant that allowed me to spend more time working for myself than for other people has now made a video about it. There have been lots of "firsts" in the past year, and now I can add a silver screen appearance to the list. Oh, and the music playing during the interview is by the Chattanooga band, Big Kitty. I am humbled to be in their presence...

I am working on a commission(my first ever!) to document an old college acquaitance's family farm. I am still rifling through the rolls of film but I wanted to post a couple images that might not make it into the portfolio for Lucy.

Then again, she did ask me to take the pictures. Perhaps it was this unassuming concrete fence that she wanted to remember always...

A 4th on the Farm

I have, for the past couple of months, been working part time on my friend's family farm. Located at the south end of the Sequatchie Valley in Tennessee, not far from the Georgia and Alabama borders, sits the Sequatchie Cove Farm. What started out as a CSA vegetable farm has turned into a wonderland of grass fed beef, heritage breed hogs, Katahdin sheep, chickens, a full dairy and cheese operation, rows of healthy berry bushes, and yes, still a bunch of vegetables.

So, I ask you, what better way is there to celebrate our collective americanism than to hang out on a farm, waltzing thru the fields, swimming in the swimming holes, and then eat some piggy that just a short time ago, was doing the very same thing, on the very same farm.
